Description:Scientists are increasingly looking to engage in political matters, especially as the 2024 U.S. election approaches.
In this webinar, the Climate Science Legal Defense Fund will help scientists understand how they can participate in political campaigns and activism. We will discuss limitations on political expression likely to be relevant for many scientists during campaign season, particularly the Hatch Act. We will also examine how the First Amendment protects the rights of scientists to participate in political activism, for both government and private sector employees.
Finally, we will provide best practices for scientists who wish to engage in advocacy and activism while still minimizing the risk of negative repercussions in their professional lives. ...
